It holds a good edge though and I have not noticed I had to resharpen more than other axes. The council is made for hard woods that we have here in the U.S. like oak. The Swedish axes are make for softer woods like pines. Both are good but the council is less likely to chip on a hardwood or frozen piece of wood. I kind of thought Council stopped making the FSS line because they came out with the Velvicutt Boys axe and wanted to push sales to that model. I can't imagine the Velvicutt model being worth twice the cost of this one.
