Hey folks, Here's a great addition to the knife arsenal. It's the Light Hunter model from
C3 Knives owned and operated by Christopher Cody. I have handled 3 of his knives, including this one, and every knife has been as sharp as you could imagine and the build quality has been very good. So let's have a closer look at this one:
OAL: 8 1/8"
Edge length: 4"
Handle length: 4 1/4"
Steel: CPM 3V
Handle Material: Maple burl
I have been wanting to get a slightly smaller knife right around 8" for some time now and this model fit the bill perfect. It also has the 3V steel I have been wanting to get for awhile. The previous knife I handled from Chris was a gift for my brother in law. So while great it left me really wanting to get one of my own. The first knife I have from Chris is in O1 steel. So this is the first CPM 3V steel blade for me.
Now this is not a review as that will only come and be accurate after time. But more of a first impressions look. The fit and finish on this knife is great. I really like a couple things specifically about this knife. First is the transition of the handle and the blade. As you can see below the handle meets the blade at an angle. This gives more handle length on the back and more edge length while still fitting your hand perfect. I have large to extra large hands and this handle fills my hand perfectly.
The blade style is a slight drop point full convex. Which is what I prefer and what I'm most used to so no surprise there. The scales are beautiful and the bulls-eye bolts are a nice touch with it. I'm really looking forward to seeing how the CPM 3V performs. Most of my knife use has been with O1 and D2 and 440C. So I'm hoping to be pleasantly surprised by this one. I'll post more on this knife in time. Fall is around the corner so opportunities to see how this knife performs are on the horizon.
Thanks for looking
